GAF Eye Health Foundation is a community-focused, non-partisan, non-biased, and non-religious organization committed to improving access to quality, affordable, inclusive, and equitable eye care services in Uganda, particularly in underserved communities. The Foundation works to prevent avoidable blindness through eye screening, health education, early detection, referral, treatment, cataract surgeries, provision of spectacles etc. It promotes school and community eye health through initiatives such as the SightBuddies Project and collaborates with government institutions, health facilities, development partners, charitable organizations, and communities. GAF Eye Health Foundation upholds principles of equality, dignity, transparency, professionalism, and respect for all people regardless of their background, beliefs, gender, or status.

“Clear vision opens the door to opportunity.” Spectacles are a simple but powerful solution for correcting refractive errors such as short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism. Properly prescribed glasses improve clarity, learning, productivity, confidence and independence. Access to quality spectacles helps people see better, live better and reach their full potential.

EYE HEALTH EDUCATION AND PROMOTION

Community Support

Home-based eye care brings essential eye health services closer to families, especially those facing distance, mobility, or financial barriers. Through education, basic screening, medication guidance, follow-up, and timely referrals, communities can prevent avoidable vision loss. Early identification and professional care help protect sight, improve independence, and promote healthier lives.

Our Memorandum of Understanding with Charity Vision
In April, Charity Vision visited us at our new office building, which is still being finished. We signed a memorandum of understanding and agreed to work together in the fight against preventable blindness.
